The lawyers screwed up. You're too intelligent to be on a jury.
When I got called I was completely honest and called our justice system a "pathetic joke." The prosecutor asked me how I felt about lawyers and I told them I thought they were "scum." Following that reply the judge brought a laugh by saying, "Don't ask him what he thinks about judges."
They ended up continuing to grill me for half a day and finally let me go.
