Keep reading magazines --- Automobile Mag says --- "The new Viper will again be built in Detroit, at the Conner Avenue assembly plant. Volumes are expected to increase slightly over the current car--to about 2500 per year--and the car will go on sale in late summer 2002 as an '03 model."

Almost 4000 RTs were built in 1994 ! Am not sure CAAP could do that, and still build Prowler....but unless the Gen-III is easier/faster to build, I suspect similiar volunes. 2500 is NOT a huge increase..... (CAAP also build the motors beginning later this year. May, I think...)
Jay and I dont have FINAL 2000 figures yet, but Automotive News has plant-production figures each week. AN yearend report says 1689 Vipers were physically built in 2000 calendar year. Model year ran Oct-Sept, so MY fig WILL differ. For reference: 2875 Prowlers were built. (and YES, there IS a '01 and an '02 Prowler!) 34,835 Corvettes were built in the same period! |
