Default Re: Aluminum Flywheels

John,

can explain why so bad for street? For drag racing I can understand ... less inertia, therefore probably a hard time maintaining stable rpm at the line, plus greater tendency to bog.
Is the bogging issue that bad for normal street use?

How about in a road race scenario ... does the car really rev and accelerate noticeably harder?

Thanks,

Having used a Tilton 5" flywheel and 3 disc clutch setup in road racing, I can tell you the engine revs up and slows down instantly. It's as noticeable as the difference between night and day. The only downside is they're either fully engaged or fully disengaged. About like a light switch, on or off, no in between.
