$100k+ for a car that pretty much looks the same as a $40k car. Maybe GM should consider raising their stock above junk status before endeavoring to create another ZR-1.

Tell that to the Porsche 911 vs Turbo owners. Love it or hate it I'm glad GM is doing someing unlike DC whos merely giving us nothing more than Color options AKA Mamba Editions....

Yes, and I definitely agree with you, but a Porsche is a Porsche and a Chevy is a Chevy. Although I could give a rat's ass about status, most people do and are willing to shell out the extra money for the Porsche name. Chevrolet tried this once with the ZR-1 and were unsuccessful. This "Blue Devil" is essentially the same formula two generations later. If history repeats itself, and nearly all of the time it most surely does, this car, if produced, will be another flop. And in GM's tenuous financial state, I don't think they need any more additions to the other flops they currently have in their automotive lineup.

new z06 sticker is $68,000, car is a tremendous performance value and i think many a viper and ferrari f430 , porsche owners might be getting passed at the track by a car costing A LOT less money!

The new ZO6 is light years ahead of the ZR1, so in that regard, the Blue Devil, far ahead of the current ZO6, can't be construed as the "same formula", eh?

The same formula would be a 3400 lb car with 385hp. (Yawn)

One thing I feel, as I read of new high-performance machines coming out from various manufacturers, is that I wish Dodge would have developed the GTS a little further. It could have been made lighter, had better brakes, etc. I guess once they put a car on the market, thats about as far as they take it engineering wise, then they go back and design its replacement. Sigh...

I think this 'blue devil' would be night and day from the ZR-1. When it was produced, it already had a car that beat it's numbers, the genI Viper!

If this car was built the roles would be reversed. 600hp from the factory would be nothing to sneeze at, no matter whos' factory it is!

Truth: the new vette is a very good all around car. Maybe too refined and boring to drive at 400hp (compared to a Viper, nirvana compared to a Camry) At 500hp it has my attention, and at 600 I would wait in line. It would run with (or beat) the Enzos, Carrera GTs, Ford GTs etc. of the world.

Now if DC would just make a deal with Paxton and offer a supercharger from the factory....we would rule!

The Z06/Blue Devil looks as much like the 40K cars as it does the SRT10. The standard C6 does not do a whole lot for me but the Z06 looks awesome IMHO. They all should have the flared ww's, hood scoop/front facia in my opinion. The diggerences may be suttle to some people but I think it makes the car, the 500/600 hp does not hurt either.

This is the third post I've seen about this rumor. Let's get over it already.

So you would pay 100K+ for a factory supercharged SRT-10? I bet Dodge would love to here that.....

I would love to hear DC say something. The Z06, GT, Shelby GT500, and others. What exactly is DC doing? Charger, Crossfire, a middle of the road Coupe?

No, but I would pay $10K more than the stock Viper. Especially with a warranty and delivered ready to go. I don't like the thought of shipping my car off for a couple months, as I drive it year round.

At todays 'discounts' for an SRT-10 that would total about $88K. At MSRP +$10K that would be $95K. Sounds OK to me.

It really doesn't matter whether I got it from DC directly or bolted it on later....except for time and bragging rights from the manufacturers! Viper 'could' be number one again.

Here's a question: $100K for a 600+hp Viper or $100K for a 600hp Vette?

Which would you choose?

What gives you the impression that I am down on the Viper? I love the Viper and may even get one instead of the new Z06 (jury is still out). I think it is YOU GUYS that are constantly saying how DC has let you down and the SRT10 is bla bla bla, no coupe bla bla bla, and still no more horsepower yada yada yada. Seeing how upset you are over the 3 post about the rumor (by the way, the 500hp/3100lb Z06 is NO rumor) it seems to me you are the one that needs to get over it. This is the "Driven" section for discussing "Other" cars is it not.

Lutz needs to worry about Buick and Pontiac way before dabbling in limited production sports cars.
