Default I traded the Viper for a XLR-V

The Cadillac dealer gave me $54,500 in trade for my 2003, blk/blk, with 8,900 miles. I think he plans to sell it to a wholesaler. The car is in excellent condition. If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll supply you the contact information.

I see a Viper coupe in my future. Maybe the Viper Wizard is listening.

Not a bad offer for trade in. How good of a deal did he give you on the XLR if you do not mind me asking?

I sat in one the other day while I was dropping my Escalade off for service. VERY nice! Not sure I trade a viper for it!

Whoa! I just took a look..$97,485 + shipping ($815 to me) + $1700 Gas Guzzler =
$100,000! Tell us more about this baby.... is it really worth this much? I'm curious why you did not opt for one of the Benz's or Jags's in that price range, but I must confess I have been tempted by this car too. It has all the virtues of a C6 Corvette (a good thing) but with a lot more class and a better upscale ride but lot's more bucks too. Anyway, tell us what you shopped and how you picked it over the competition.

Do you remember the guy behind the original Viper program? (Bob Lutz) When he left Dodge and went over to GM he helped raise the performance bar and now GM has a 500hp Corvette and V-Series Cadillacs. Remember the guy Lutz brought in to consult on the Viper project? (Carroll Shelby) Cars with his thumbprint were off the charts at Barrett-Jackson recently (Shelby Cobra/GT350/GT500). VIN#1 of the new 2007 GT500 sold at B-J auction for $600k. I have nothing against the imports but I’m a bigger fan of American car culture, and guys like Lutz & Shelby are icons in this area. I bought the car for these reasons, and because I fell in love with it the first time I saw it at the LA Auto Show. There will be another Viper in my future.

XLR-V vs. standard XLR:

more aggressive hood (raised), and front facia
mesh grill
19", 10 spoke wheels vs 18", 7 spoke
Pirelli run-flats vs Michelin
V-badging with "supercharged" lettering
wider tires, 255 rears vs. 235
new 6 speed automatic tranny vs. 5 speed
DOHC Northstar supercharged engine, 443hp vs 320hp
brembo brake package
beefed suspension, heavier control arms, anti-roll (front & rear)
recalibrated shocks
interior elements, hand-stitched leather dash
etc...

If I wanted speed in a luxurious package with traction control and all the bells and whistles, I'd get the xlr-v over a corvette anyday! For sheer track and racecar feel... the Viper, of course. Very nice on the xlr-v!

I just bought my wife an XLR--what a car!! I can only imagine what the V version is like. The XLR is so much better than my C6 was. Caddy got it right. It gets more looks than almost anything other than the Viper.

Well i doubt depreciation is even a concern to you but...GM's depreciation is sick. Also The underrated Getrag rear diff is in all V's (rated at300ft/lbs TQ) sucks and whines like crazy after a few thousand miles.
I have a cts-V and its been the worst car i have even owned! As soon as the new RS4 or RS6 is out I'll ditch my V.
Hope you have better luck with your V!
Regards,

Marc
