Default My first drive in a Viper...

...kind of.

I am a vendor for some of the local car dealerships, I take photos for the internet and print up stickers for the used cars. On Tuesday I noticed a used Ram SRT-10 sitting on the front pad at the Dodge dealership I work at, but it was blocked in by a couple of other cars. I left it alone knowing that I would get to it later. Today was that day. I did all the used cars on the lot, and then made my way to the beast. I was nervous as soon as I got in, I collected all the info I needed, and then pushed the red "engine start" button. That's when I started shaking. I shifted into first gear, and off I went. I made it a point to drive it across the lot just to get a feel, and while I never pushed the gas pedal much, I knew how much power was at my "finger tips". I got to the other side of the lot, took the pictures I needed to, and got back in. I put it in reverse, let off the clutch, and the transmission let out a clunk. Of course a salesmen had to run over and offer to drive it for me because I "didn't know how to get it in gear". After getting him to go away, I pushed the clutch all the way to the floor put it in reverse, and off I went again.
All in all, even at very slow speeds, it was a great experience. I can't wait until someone trades in their Viper on something...but if that happens you'll be hearing about me on the news!
All I know now is I have to get a Viper.

I've got one of those SRT Rams, its red but its also supercharged. Power to weight from dyno runs on both my old Viper and current Ram are nearly identical. I still get a little nervous when I hit the red button and hear the whine of the supercharger!! I need to move somewhere closer to Denver where I can drive the SRT Ram more...but then I couldnt afford it given the housing market.

I'm wondering about the same thing. Maybe people think a pickup with a sportscar engine isn't able to haul cargo in a decent way or that it has a too flashy exterior styling ?

Same here, but then I don't get truck any how.

My question is, if they can fit the V10 in a truck, why not the 300?
I think that would be bad asss. i heard they are coming out with a longer wheel base next year for the 300.

I dont think the public is aware that the truck comes with a Viper v10 from the factory. Most assume it has a Hemi under the hood. As is the case with the Viper, you never see any SRT Rams either regular or quad cab advertised. The truck looks very similar to the sported out Hemi trucks that unless you see the "Viper powered" logos on the hood or SRT-10 on the side and tailgate you would assume its a Hemi Ram.

The only way you'll know is when you hit the gas and blow them away

The F-150 Lightning sold pretty well I believe, feel free to correct me. The SRT Ram took the "Worlds fastest production truck" title from the Lightning, and still wasn't able to sell.

The marketing for the F-150 doesn't quite fit as well as the ram SRT. Think about how many mustang owners there are out there? So they think cool sweet truck, I'm gonna get me one. WIth the Ram SRT it kinda doesn't work that great cause there's just not enough performance options out there, (not like that's really needed) but anyway. Why get a Ram SRT when most viper owners can just add to the viper. Plus there's just not as many viper owners as there are mustangs.

Go down main street and ask a random person who's not all that into cars, what a corvette is. They'll say a Chevy or something else. Ask them what a viper is and most likely they'll look at you confused until you show them what it looks like. Sorta the same thing.
