Thinking of buying SRT 10 truck, and want the standard cab type 2004/2005/2006, with the manual 6 speed tranny.....I notice that hitches only come on the quad cabs, can legally or safely put a hitch on this standard cab truck ?? Appreciate any/all info from this knowledgeable group.....I found a truck and the guy at the dealership said he would install a hitch on the truck....THANKS for the advice....

However, if you could control yourself on your power application and avoid steep uphill takeoffs, I think that the clutch would work just fine. A clutch is designed to take engine torque, though in some applications that is limited by traction, pulling a load isn't any different to the clutch itself, however, the load DOES make it possible to inflict serious damage (by taking heat during engagement) to it if you were to operate the rig as if it had no load. You have complete control over the power dumped INTO the clutch during engagement. That scares manufacturers. They'd need a wet, probably multidisk, clutch (like a motorcycle) to even THINK of warrantying that combination. |
