Cool vid.

Nanny-tech overload.

Not jealous though.

Can't afford Ferrari!

I'm not against the Nanny-tech. With today's extreme performance envelope, many of the people who would be buying these cars are far from qualified to be able to do much more than drive them on the interstate safely. Serious, how many people have you met who you walk away thinking that person has NO business behind the wheel of a car? Yet anyone can have the resources to purchase cars like these, regardless of ability. So I feel that it's a double-edged weapon.... the nanny-tech may be working to keep some people from killing themselves or others, but at the same time it is encouraging them to push the cars beyond their own abilities. On occasion, nanny-tech has been known to kick in AFTER an experienced driver has already adjusted to a situation... thus causing the problem to get worse or result in an accident.

Case in point: C5. I left my tc/sc on one day when going to pick up a date after it had rained lightly. I crossed a bridge in Middletown on the inside lane where it changes elevation and turns before getting onto the bridge itself. Despite idling the engine in 4th gear at 35mph, the rear trailed loose slightly. I corrected the wheel and was on an angle to carry through in my line without incident, but once I corrected the wheel the TC kicked the braking and brought traction back to the rear.. which halted the mild slide and brought the traction back. I corrected again and was fine... missing both the Jersey barrier and the truck next to me. But the nanny-tech in this case went against the driver and was more likely to have caused an accident than prevent one.

Though I would NEVER deign to compare any product of GM's to what Ferrari produces.

The video was interesting... but I felt it was pure fluff. The guy openly said that he dogged it in the Enzo. We also were not told if his best run was with or without the active handling. And I simply am not aware as to whether or not the Enzo has the same equipment. So I felt it was a pretty pointless clip of the part of Fifth Gear. I'll wait to see what Clarkson and The Stig can do about it.

Close, but not the same story as the first time you told it (maybe it wasn't you but I'm too lazy to research the fact.) From your description the traction control worked appropriately. If you want to power slide around corners, turn your traction control off. Personally, I'd take a defeatable TC any day. It's perfect for cold weather and rain when you aren't trying to go fast but you don't want to get caught with your pants down.

A prime example of 'less (wt) is more.' 500HP beats 600HP. I would take a much slimmed down and more agile Viper over a higher HP example. The future is even lighter for the Euros...lets hope that Viper follows suit. Not the popular view, I know.

As for the tech, here is the car in the rain, with TC engaged and without. (It ain't all TC boys!)

really pretty amazing that the f430 scuderia can compete with enzo times. 510hp vs 650hp and it's just as fast truly is remarkable.

God ferrari's are just so sexy and the sound is just incredible.
