Default A 375 horsepower Hyundai?

OK, so gas prices have dropped a bit lately, but this seems counter to the trends.

And here down the road we have a dealer that is PROMISING to sell 1,000 Hyundais in Sept. Maybe this will jump-start its sales? ~juli

I saw that thing at the NY auto show this past spring and it is pretty sporty looking. Had the badges been removed I would never have guessed Hyundai. If I recall the price for the fully loaded version wasn't too bad either. Maybe less than 30k?

Dave, You'd be surprised at the gas mileage on the Genesis V-8. I'm driving a V-6 and have been getting 22-23 w/75% freeway, at 80 plus mph. They tell me the V-8 should only lose 1 mpg. 6 speed auto helps, it is a hell of a car, absolutely loaded V-8 @ 42K, my loaded 6, with 290 hp listed for 38.5K. Mike

Julie, Billy Fuccillo sold over 1100 new in Syracuse in June, his sweet spot is Accent, Elantra and Sonata.

Yep, Mike's sister actually works for Fuccillo...and they moved her to Syracuse to help the title clerk. Don't care for the guy personally...but he does a HECKUVA job selling cars...no matter WHAT the make/model. ~juli

Julie, my sisters a teacher in TX. not in the car business. I was up your way with Billly last Thursday in Satatoga celebrating at Siro's. Glad I live in the OC and not upstate NY!! Billy has 3 or 4 dodge stores in NY don't write him off. He sells more Dodge's than anyone you know. Mike

For a while, and probably still the case (but don't quote me on this)... Hyundai's beat Mercedes in reliability. Thank God we're away from that!

20 years from now, nobody will care to restore a 2008 Hyundai with 375 hp. Like every other Hyundai before it, they will last for a few years and then end up getting recycled.

I sold Hyundai's for a while, and they do have good quality vehicles, but I wouldn't keep one past the powertrain warranty. As for the Genesis, for just over 40k you do get one hell of a car. It has the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. It's like having an over-sized Lay-z-boy for the front and back seats.
