A version of the Smart Car, but only able to go 25mph? Guess it'd be good for just city driving? Like an enclosed scooter! ~juli

$20k? You can buy a scooter with a load left over for that price. Better yet just build it on a scooter body and sell for $10k

That has to be one of the worst-looking EVs yet. And probably just a re-hash of the GEM (not a winner, either).

We acquired a 2002 Th!nk this summer for the wife to drive to the grocery, etc. With new batteries....$4700. This technology has got to be fiscally (and physically) attractive to work.

Limited range and limited mph (25), seems a little shortsighted that that is all they could do by 2010, when the Smart Car is already on the market and outperforms it.

I could use it to go down my driveway to pickup my paper or the mail...now THERE'S utility! Imagine, the hours of enjoyment while driving down and even up (hopefully) the driveway.

They started making one very similar in 2001 called the Gem. I bought one for my wife in 2002. They have gel batteries and so far we have more than 5000 miles on it. Yes it is restricted to 25mph but if you take the restrictor off, it will go much faster but you would not want to do that because the car is top heavy. The city we live in changed many of the speed limits to encourage use of this type of vehicle. We can go just about everywhere in the city with it. You can even use it on the golf course as it has a switch to convert the car for the course.Even the city and some banks use them.

Pretty slick car. Ford made a similar one called the THINK. That also was a good car but Ford stopped making them once the energy credit stopped. We paid 3900 back in 2002 for the Gem and it is still worth all of that and more today. We have it sitting next to the viper. We put more miles on the Gem than the viper. They are a kick to drive.

Bwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhahhahahaha -------------- air --------------------- hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaa-ha!!

Wow! So many things are coming to my head right now. Where to start!

Its a covered lawnchair on a roller scate. With a smile!!

Makes me want to slap it a few times so it will get rid of its grin.

It probably has a voice door chime when you open it too. Instead of ding ding ding it will say "Have a happy day!".

Robert

P.S. On second thought, maybe I can remove the spare tire on my Ram and bolt that up in there! Instead of a spare tire I have a spare Grin-mobile. Granted, I guess my destination for help better not be more than 30 miles!

I live in a valley surrounded with huge mountains...
If we took one of these and started at the top of a hill, threw it in neutral...
We could probably hit 50 at the bottom.. LOL

Scare the c*ap out of some mountain bikers

My guess is that would be a life altering experience going 50 in one of those!!

Setting: 2 people in car half way down the mountain:

I can see the light, honey!! It is at the end of a dark tunnel! I can see what looks like ladies with wings too!

starting around 20K ! holy **** ! is that a joke? No wonder the auto industry is suffering.

Go buy a cheep Chevy aveo. i've seen them in the local paper for 7,999 NEW. OR... buy a goped scooter. They get 200+ MPg, go 23MPH (stock) and only cost about $400. Cheeper to buy a raincoat and backpack with it to. Its not like eather have any creature comforts.
