I am a truck driver. Run super B's in the oil patch hauling frac sand. I don't know when I will be going back to work, as oil patch is in a major slump and I have a niche market that is not in demand at this time. Here are a couple more pics;

Right now I'm just planning to do it a couple more years. Wonna make some decent money to buy a toy or 2, then I want to persue a career at a video game store, since thats my real passion. I know when I start I'll barely be able to pay rent but atleast I'll have my paid for truck and paid for *insert awsome car* and no debt. |

A guy needs a CB. I give trucks an extra burp when I go by.
Would be neat to here some of their responses. I know I had a few complimentary comments when I got passed by a Viper when I was in my truck.![]()

I've been passed by two gen3 verts in the last year, I was able to tell they were vipers from very far away. Put a smile on my face and gave them a couple of honks as they passed. They probably thought "why is that ****ing trucker honking at me?!" lol I think right now I'm either goin to buy a 69 Camaro or a Challenger like you had. Looked at some nicely priced ones on Autotrader and wondered if they were scams. Like a 69 Camaro vert, beautiful, for 10k. Out of curiosity, what does a challenger like you had go for?
*edit* doesn't look like that 69 camaro vert is on the site anymore Last edited by OzeViper; 06-15-2009 at 07:24 PM. |

$27,000 Canadian when I sold it 1 1/2 years ago. Prices have dropped since then. Check Autabuy.com
It shows 6 '74's, 11 '73's,7 '72's, 26 '71's, and 67 '70's, all price ranges- all motors. You may find one close to home. Whatever you decide on make sure you get it well checked over by a reliable mechanic. I am sure there are some good deals, but you can be sure there are also some scams.

great truck and great story! I tried to get one simular when I was in highschool 10 years ago. I lived in a small town and there was one locally w/ a 427 or 454(dont remember, think the 454 is chevy, 427 is ford right?) It was goin for around $7k, an impossible amount to get at 16. Today I started detailing my 99 Dakota RT, for the first time in 5 years of owning it. I think I may just build it up and go find a place to learn how to race on a road course.

Neither fits in your description, but a '60 sports car and 80's muscle car are close enough.

Mr Furman, is your Corvette a ZL-1 with the aluminum block? Love the Hemicuda.

The ZL1 was only made in 1969 and there were only 3 of them (formerly they thought there were 2). "Pee Wee" Furman's vette is a valuable 1967 427/435 but not as rare as the ZL1.

Alice as usual is only partially correct, my car is a 1967 L88 427 430hp single 4 barrel, 1 of 20 made. Its not a 435hp, as that is the rating for the 3 2 barrel cars only, as far as ZL1's, there were only 2 made, a yellow car and a white one, unless Alice has unearthed some old home made racecar?

I know the difference between the 11:1 427/435 vette and the 12.5:1 427/430(lol, more like 585hp) L88. I know vettes, "Pee Wee". |

Here are some pictures of my 69 Camaro SS. I finished the restoration a couple of years ago. The engine is a 427 small block (Dart Rocket Block) that pushes out 603hp on pump gas. I recently sold the GTS and the E55 to make room for a new ACR! John (Roanoke Dodge) told me that my ACR is scheduled to be shipped any day now!

![]() This is my 99 Dakota RT, I've owned it for 5 wonderful years now. It has never left me on the side of the road. I was a senior in high school when Dodge had the briliant idea to put a 5.9L V8 in the Dakota. In Feb 2004 I was looking for a truck and noticed this one at a car lot, just within my price range @ $6,500. A couple of weeks ago I got the bug to detail the darn thing since in 5 years of ownership I never once put a coat of wax or anything on it. As you can see the paint on the roof bubbled and is fading away. The front is filled with 157k miles of rock chips. I used clay bar, cleaner wax, polish and finishing wax and now it looks great. I will be getting a new paint job before the end of the year along with replacing everything that might be worn out. Also considering installing a manual trans and beefing up the engine a bit. |
