Hi Everyone,
We have a thread going in the Group Buy section, but I've received multiple emails and a couple PM's that people can't reply in the thread. Here's a link to it: Group Buy On SCT Handheld Flash Programmers I'd like to switch it over to this forum instead. If anyone has any questions, or would like to start a running list, this is may be a better place to do it. If you want to be on the "interest" list, please copy below, add your forum name a post. The next person would add theirs and so on until we see how many people are interested. The end number will determine the discount level. It just can't go below $500. SCT Group Buy Interest: 1. Basically, the HP gains come from two factors. #1. Making the air / fuel ratio flat and ideal. #2. Optimizing ignition timing for the gasoline you're using. The farther the A/F and timing are from ideal, the larger the gains. If you've done a lot to increase air flow and are on 91 octane fuel, the gain will be smaller as you can't run as much ignition advance and the increase in air flow automatically improves the otherwise excessively rich AF ratio above 4,000 RPM. Here's a typical stock Gen3 using 93 octane. Only mods before flashing were Mopar cat-back and high flow S&B air filters. This is about what one would typically expect on either Gen2 or 3. Sometimes more is gained at lower RPM when the engine is running too lean there. A larger torque gain can result from adding the fuel needed. ![]() |

I've made a number of changes to increase airflow, and Sean's comments have me concerned about the actual gains I might get with the SCT. I'm going to take my name of the list for now while I think it over and maybe contact Sean again..I might jump back on before the deadline. 1. 2k6voi9, '06 Coupe 2. Parisianviper, 01 RT/10 3. Keep in mind that we don't put the same tune in all the boxes. We set the program according to the modifications. If headers have been added for example, we add more fuel, primarily above 4,000 RPM where the headers have the larger impact.
The statement about the AF changing with modifications is 100% relative to the gains to be had. The closer a tune is to ideal, the less there is to be gained with changing it. If you have time, it's always best to dyno and see where your engine stands in regard to AF and power numbers. |
