I believe that to start a new chapter/region, there is a minumum number of members. I'm sure someone more in the know (Andy Levitt, Joe Houss) will chime in. However, you can join any VCA region you wish, regardless of where you live. The New Jersey region is pretty active, and the Pennsylvania-West Virginia region is also an option. You are invited to join our Virginia-Maryland region; we already have 6 members from Delaware. We're planning on several events in the Baltimore area this year, not counting our biggest event, the Crab Feast Cruise in Annapolis in June. We've got a Tech Session at Heffner's Performance in Glen Burnie, MD (just south of B-more) on March 9; you're more than welcome to attend. I'll drop you a private e-mail with more details.

Make sure to talk to Andy Levitt, as he is your Zone Director.

Essentially, you'll find that EVERY regional President will offer you any help you need to solidify some activities in your area! This is the best way to become active in your region!

I posted this same question a couple weeks ago. I was looking for some support. I nominate you as president of the delaware valley chapter. Do I have a second! (you just have to decide to keep your car and not try to sell it every other week).

How about a group of us showing up in Ocean City MD for the "Hot Rod Magazine" car Show, at the OC convention center. Possibly get some preferred parking? The show is the 1,2,3, of March (I think).

If there is any interest I will follow up.

Gentlemen,

There is no advantage to starting your own region. It is more important to get involved with your current regional President. He will be ecstatic that you want to become an event coordinator, as it's very hard to find volunteers to coordinate events, and if YOU'RE in his region, then there are surely plenty more members in the same geographic area as well, so he will truly be thankful for your help!

Why reinvent the wheel? By building on an existing regions events, you're bound to have a more successful, larger turnout event, and that truly is the name of the game!

Please feel free to call me at 732-531-4600 if you want to discuss.

I would concur with Joe. I am involved with the WV/PA Region. Any region would welcome new members who want to get involved and organize some events. Last Fall, Sean Sandone organized a last minute get together that drew cars from VA and NY to the Philly area. It is difficult to have folks that actually want to get events going. Finally, no matter what Region holds an event, any member is welcomed. While I am a member of WV/PA, I do some of the NJ events and they are a great time. (Mopar Steve..I e-mailed you directly a while ago about this.)

Steve, speedshftr,
I am also 'new' to the Va/Md chapter, but they have several
very good events as listed above and more in the works.
Come on over and join in. I would like to hear a few more details on the OC MD Hot Rod show, let's get together a group ?

Others in the Va/Md club interested in getting together with the Chesapeake area Porsche club for an event or two ? ( a car show and an autocross weekend?) Same for Corvette Club?

Also any interest in Va/Md rotating luncheon 2nd or 3rd Sat or Sun each month? Different area each month?

I'll work with these ideas with some input from Va/Md members.
Please email me. Thanks!

This is in reply to Joseph's post. Sure, participating with another region is all good and fine, but who would come to Delaware or the "eastern shore" for a small event? (Local shows, cruise nights, test & tune, etc)

I posted a suggestion about an Ocean City event, and look at the response. Maryland people! We are supposed to be included in The New Jersey region, no-one from NJ responded.

We just purchased a large house on almost 2 acres, wooded private and plenty of parking. I'm planning parties this summer (pig roasts, etc)Many of my friends from the local Mopar & Corvette club will be comming. Members from NJ would be invited, but Joseph would you even consider driving 4+ hours round trip for a "picnic"?

I know there are quite a few Vipers in the area, and I don't know of any other way to contact these people, other than this forum.

Zoomie, if you would like to contact me for info on Ocean City, feel free to call me #302-438-1172

Mopar Steve,

You've explained my exact point! The more you seperate yourself, the more likely your local event will have fewer Vipers than if you opened up the event to our 3 state potential.

Yes, SOME New Jersey Guys will come to the event, as they look forward to a nice long cruise... plus, you'll get all your local guys as well.

There are a few points that should be mentioned:

1) Website Invites usually aren't enough to get a large turnout. NJ region has a newsletter, and we'd be glad to list any and all of your events! We have many members that just don't visit the website (heaven forbid!) and have quite a few members that would have a very short drive to your events.

2) If you want to contact all the members in your area... it's easy! Just call your Regional President, agree to an event, and he'll make sure all of 'em get a newsletter or mailing with the info.

I am Nj VCA member....I am planning an event this year at my yacht club....on the eastern shore of the Chesepeake....I am sure with some Del. and MD help this could be fun, and a good get together.
