I sent them an email (skip barber) about availability at VIR
this spring/summer. No reply. Anyone know when they are hosting
driving school at VIR?

I don't think Skip Barber does a driving school at VIR. There is a Viper Days event at VIR on July 19, 20 & 21 that is run by Skip Thomas of Viper Days (the one that some of the previous posters were referring to).

Check this link for more info:

Check Skip Barber's web site http://www.skipbarber.com/ for the schedule, then call Skip Barber at 800-221-1131 to confirm space.

The 2 day driving school is a great place to start and VCA members get a 25% discount for this program. All other programs are discounted 10%. Remember it is not your car when taking the school. You will need to provide a copy of your current VCA membership card or have membership verified by Fiona or Kim.

If you want to maximize your driving skills I suggest the following:

I Start with Skip Barber
a. 2 day driving school
b. one or more Car Control Clinics
c. Three Day Racing School
d. Lapping days, keep sharp by doing Lapping days

II Autocross
Do as many autocross events as possible is increase car control skills

III Viper Days
Great place to get a lot of track seat time in a controlled environment. The best open track event I have expereinced.

Driving is like any sport training and practice is the best way to improve you skills.

ViperDays at Beaverun is your best bet. ViperDays ran at Watkins Glen last year and it was great. Also check out Trackmasters or PDA. They run at the Glen and both have an excellent reputation.

Default Driving school

anyone know a viper driving school on east coast? I have not drove my car much, and with all the wrecks I have read about it scares the **** out of me. I want to go somewhere and learn the limits before I tromp on it! I am used to driving sportbikes fast (I have a ZX9 and just sold my ZX11) But from what I have read our Vipers are very "unforgiving"

Skip Barber has driving schools all over the country. Check out their webpage for schedules for the different tracks.

Viper Days is the best thing available to you. You should plan on coming to VIR in July. They also have the new course at Beaverun on the schedule provided they have the course completed. Most people will tell you that the combination of VIR & ViperDays is well worth the drive from PA.

Skip puts on a very safe event, and you will learn a lot about the Viper and the camaraderie is terrific as well.
