If you had a 99 solid black ACR, I would suggest you do sell. If you are happy with your car, keep it. Between this year and next will be a big drop in the price of the "old" style Vipers. Financially it would be wise to sell now and buy back again later. I don't think the used Viper market has really felt a hit (not completly), but when the new 2003's come out... that will be the talk of the town.

My 2 cents on this thread is that if you want to own something that looks like a CORVETTE or S2000 Production Car than BUY a new
VIPER. ![]() But why Sell a GEN 1 or GEN 2 awesome looking VIPER, with it's distinctive body style and uniqueness...IT stands alone in the crowd.. ![]() I think when the NEW VIPERS come out it will make the original body style ones more desirable and collectable. ![]() Have a great day. |

I will never sell my GEN II GTS. I don't care if the price drops to $5. Maybe I will pick up another one. Now that's an idea. You can have your 2003's with their un-outrageous styling. If anyone thinks that the new 2003 is going to stand out above the crowd as far as looks go next to a GEN I or GEN II maybe you haven't seen the new Viper in person and gauged people's reaction to it yet, like I have. It aint all that. Now as far as performance goes, yes it will dominate, but that's just half the reason I would buy a car. I mean if they made the Pontiac Aztec do the 1/4 mile in 11.0 seconds and dominate road courses for around $80,000 would you guys all run out to buy it? |

I'm with you guys. The new Viper will bring a premium for a while and I hope that the Gen 1 & 2 Vipers will hold there own. And if not, I didn't buy my Viper to make money. I bought my Ferrari 360 Spyder for that. $50k over.

I think once the general public realizes that you have to already own a Viper in order to buy a (limited production) '03, the values of Gen I and II will spike. Just a thought. My dealer here in Houston has also proclaimed that they'll be seeking $40k over sticker for an '03. I don't think the Gen I and II's will drop in value with the advent of the '03's.

$40,000 over sticker, you have got to be kidding me. For a Dodge? But then again I guess the first year of the GEN I's and GEN II's brought huge dealer markups like that too. |

Dr. E
Find another dealer. The one I talked to is almost 40K under the one you must have talked to. |

With the SRT\10 coming out , I'm with Joseph that the Gen 2's should see a mighty drop in values over the next 18 months.
I do see the Gen 1 & 2 as future collector cars, especially the GTS. Limited quantities built and overall availibility of quality older Vipers will certainly inspire higher future values. |

I think that current Vipers will hold their value they way they are now. There are enough people who prefer them to the new ones. And, if you want a coupe...you HAVE to buy an older one. I could almost understand it if the RTs lost value, as the new one will be a more "convenient" convertible. But for me...I liked my '94 because it had no windows! As far as the SRT goes, (I think that stands for Safety Recall Team), I won't list my thoughts about it, but the consensus of those I have talked to have not been positive.

Did you guys ever see that Saturday Night Live when they had those guys that were Chicago Bears fans... (da Bears). That is exactly what most of you gen 1/2 owners remind me of... Just take a look around you, people are going to warm up to the new Viper looks and that will be the new talk. The old Viper will be old (with older performance) and used prices are going to see a drop here soon. Guys aren't going to want to pull up to a newer Viper at a red light and they don't want to see the valet park their car behind the SRT. In my local paper a guy was selling a 97 blue/white GTS with 6K miles for 55K, I looked in the paper this week and now the guy wants 49K best offer. Don't get me wrong the gen 1/2 WILL be a collectors item, no question about it, but not for another 30 years. Just my opinion mixed in with some facts.
