I believe that the lower the number the richer the mixture is and the higher the number the leaner it is. So 12.5 to 1 or 13.5 to 1 would be pretty safe for a supercharged car. Ive seen some tuners run a richer mixture which is safer but it does take a few HP away to some extent. The leaner the mixture the better chance for detonation to occur. Im sure someone will be able to correct me, but I believe this to be fairly accurate.

So if I lean my car out I could have Considerable Gains.
We need to add the air fuel ratio to dyno graphs for accurate comparison? |

As a majority engines like to see 12-13.00 a/f mixture to achieve maximum power. The only problem with dialing you mixture to this level is making sure that the fuel used is high enough octane or you will hurt the motor. But from what I have seen the difference between 11.0:1 to 12.5 to 1 on an 800hp car can be 40-50 hp at the wheels easy. |

Dr. Roof boosted cars love lots of fuel throwen at them, you will see turbo and supercharged cars running rich. Try some dyno pulls adding fuel and taking fuel out, you definately will make more power adding fuel.

I've got the DLM Stage III+ system. I'm pulling 846rwhp out of a GEN-1. I received new fuel systems (including supplimental Fuel-Cell for boost injectors), extra computer, heads, exhaust, Supercharger, and a lot more. New running gear as well. I don't have nor use NOS. I run 96 oct gas in main tank, and 105 in boost tank. Doug could have pulled a couple of hundred more HP out by over-spinning the blower (more than 15 lbs) and running a different fuel ratio, but that would not be something to warrant. My car fish-tails at 150mph, and kills ever bike I'm up against. Doug offered to add some new technology to my car to increase the HP by quite a bit more. I turned him down. I finally got the answer to the question: "Is there such a thing as too much horsepower?"...
My next Viper will not have more than 850rwhp. I think that's the optimum number! |

Roof Doctor,
Your A/F is fine and SAFE! Of course, one day you'll get a little bored with making all that power and lean her out a bit to find that new found love...More POWER. |
