Default Viper owners choose wrong mods first.

The Viper needs more power mods first as much as I need to get divorced and remarried again. That said.Yep I put on the rquisite smooth tubes and filters, and did a full exhaust(corsa/no cats/cdi headers) because I couldn't stand the sound or lack of it from my car.Yep added HP.Beyond that, improve handling.Lower car, change springs etc.Improve brakes(Increased cooling or big brake kit).Steer it,stop it,power it up.The car does not lack power but could use more handling first and then bigger brakes or more brake cooling next.IMHO.Recent track event at a tight handling course. Some of the Ferrari pixxed me off in the slow twisty only.Could hang with them in the twisty part but I was working hard.Next serious mod is lowering, then big brakes, then intake, rockers, heads and posibly cam.Does it ever end? Bruce

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "You know, I think I need smaller brakes..."

If you're concerned about handling and going faster through the turns, don't be concerned about just 'lowering'. Make sure you get more performance-tuned shocks/springs. Depending on what you do for lowering, handling can be ill-affected, cut springs for example will just cause a bunch of bouncing and squirrliness if done wrong.

Was thinking of using stock springs with the shorter hats.Stiff cars are lousy on rough roads. Bruce

Bruce, I would also recommend a slightly more aggressive alignment. I have to admit that my Koni Double adjustable shocks with 600#/in front and 850#/in rear springs are really not all that bouncy on a rough road. Getting the rebound and compression right on the money will pay large dividends. With ride height adjustable shocks you also have the capability to corner weight the car. This makes a huge difference in the overal balance and bias of the car.

Only when the guy on front of you is a better threshold braker or has better brakes than you!
