Default TNT Has a Blower!!!

This weekend at the Zone rendezvous, TNT had a car there with a blower on it. I haven't heard a word about it, but I spotted it in the garage. Apparently they are working to start production sometime soon. It's a top mount, similar to the Roe. What I thought was interesting was the fact that the throttle bodies are on the back of it, near the windshield! Here's some free advertising for you guys at TNT! It looks like the blower wars are getting a little more competition!

If it's a roots blower, it would be the first one, not another one, as Sean's is a twin-screw. And yes, I know I'm being technical. Sorry.

No, but show me one that does! My Roe is going to cost $7500, + the fuel pump booster and the crank keying kit, plus shipping. I figure it will be over $8k sitting on my garage floor. From what Nick had to say, the TNT package shouldn't be a TON more than the Roe. It's going to be an installed package, so the do-it-yourself guys like myself are out of luck. I like seeing the competition!

I believe the prototype Viper engine was designed to pull air in from the backside? Congrats to TNT for entering the war zone, should be interesting see their results.

I really don't know yet. They had it covered with an aluminum plate. The obvious difference that I noticed was the throttle bodies on the back of the engine. No clue what the reason for this is, but I bet there is one. Maybe more room for an intercooler? Who knows.

The basic difference between the twin screw and Roots blowers is the twin screw compresses the air inside the blower housing while the Roots type moves air to be compressed in the discharge manifold. The Roots are less expensive. Twin screws are less common and more difficult to manufacture. In short the twin screws take less power to drive, have lower discharge air temperatures at the same boost levels and typically are capable of higher boost levels than Roots blowers of the same general size. Also, the twin screw makes boost at very low rpm's just like a Roots and doesn't run out of breath nearly as fast in the higher rpm range.

Big - sorry, I should have made it more clear I was being sarcastic. This same kinda deal leaked out awhile back and was the running joke - before the Roe charger debuted.

Nevermind, lol...

If you look up inside your manifold with the throttle bodies off, you can see what look like core plugs at the back of each plenum. I guess you could reach around the back and feel them as well. They're at least 1.5" in diameter if I remember correctly. I had the thought some years ago of bolting small TBs to them for a primary/secondary kind of effect. Anything bolted to the back of the manifold would be a bear to get at though. "Installed package" means big $$$ for sure. Anyway, more good things are coming aren't they?

I think the roots blower has two gear driven shafts, each with a cast aluminum rotor that has a cross section sort of like a peanut, you know, a lump on each end with a thin section in the center.
These two rotors turn against one another, the fat ends of each rotor fits into the thinner part of the other and vise versa, forcing the air around the inside of the housing.
The old diesel blowers, 4-71, 6-71, are roots type. Those were the ones you would see on top of a big V8 rail dragster.
