Don't they have some sort of coating on them? I've heard you're not supposed to polish them. I use Zaino every time, but the inner part..like behind the valve stem is starting to look hazy. Any suggestions ....besides the obvious of getting new wheels. That's a little down the road right now.

They're clear coated... treat em like paint. Also do a search, this topic has come up before.

When you find out what the factory wheels cost...you'll think twice about new ones. Plus..they probably won't be much better.
DCX grades their wheels ona scale, and to cut this short...only the face of the wheels is warranted for cosmetics. It's true that they are clearcoated..so anything abrasive may cause more harm than good. |

Clean em up and then do a good Zaino job on them and then get a small feather duster and swipe em off when you come in after run. Works like a charm.

Get a few coats of Z on there and use one of the mini california dusters every 2 or 3 trips out. Works like a champ and leaves little or no streaking or dust. Takes 4 mintues for all 4 wheels. |

I tried using Zaino car wax (Z2) on 1/2 of a wheel last night. Couldn't tell any difference. The wheel did seem smoother, but you couldn't tell by looking at it which 1/2 I did. Haziness and tiny scratches were still there. I guess they're in the clearcoat and nothing much I can do.

The "scratchiness" you are seeing may be in the actual wheel metal itself. Try a bit of Blue Coral Scratch Remover. If this fixes the problem, it's in teh clearcoat and can be remedied.

Why not buff the clear coat off, polish the aluminum then re-clear (powder) coat. Can't be that expensive.....
