Well, as posted previously we had a fairly light turnout due to the weather. While we made it up to Lexington without a drop, the cars got a bath while parked. Those that stayed up there for the day drove back in dry weather as well. Lexington, by the way, is a historic Civil War town on the bluffs of the Missouri River. It was the second largest Missouri city behind St. Louis at the time of the war. The roads leading to the town can be pretty exciting in a Viper and beautiful during the fall. Anyway, here are some pics:
Here is the group as we depart Kansas City proper. Always love those mirror shots! Another mirror shot from the winding roads leading through the countryside: When we arrive in Lexington they have set up parking for us at the local movie house. Makes for some nice pictures: And although this is a goofy little picture, you might appreciate it anyway. See, you already know that some of the local Viper owners are worried about leaving their babies unprotected. One of our traditions in the Kansas City club is to hire off-duty policemen to watch over the group as we wander around or have some of our social functions (holiday party). In this case, we got an on-duty policeman in uniform and in police car. Stayed out there for the duration, including the rain, etc. Let folks look around the cars but not get too close with umbrellas, etc. "Man, you guys sure drew quite a crowd" he said when we returned a few hours later. Oh, and the cost to the club for these services? $10 an hour. Pretty good price for peace of mind... I wish the weather had been better and we had gotten a larger turn out, but the drive up was great and the lunch was superb. Those that stayed got some very rewarding guided historical tours of the area and those that left got to drive through some serious rain - on an even more winding, hilly road than the one on which we arrived. My thanks to all that braved the elements and came out to enjoy a great cruise nonetheless. Hoping for better weather next time! Chris |

Need to tip the cop!!!!..... I have tipped our cop by giving him a quick ride to 160mph and back in his full uniform and with his gun in holster ... but he MUST wear seatbelt ....we have a seatbelt law in Florida.
Cudaman He did say I would not have to worry about a speeding ticket .... he would talk our way out of it!!! |

Not to worry, we tipped him quite well and offered him some seat time in the cars. He declined because he had a LOT of gear on those belts and it was raining. No fun there! Rest assured we will hook up with him again...

Chris -
That's a daaamned fine idea. And at $10 an hour, it's a steal! Pretty cool that they offered/allowed an on-duty cop for that. |
