Default Question For the Viper Wizard!!

Chuck,
I have the Added Care extended warranty on my 1996 RT/10 and have just relocated to Columbus Ohio. Can you tell me if the wiper motors are covered under the extended warranty?
My wipers do not operate in synchronization any longer and someone advised it was probably the passenger side motor going bad. I called the dealership I was using in Florida and they said, "not covered", but when I called the warranty folks they indicated it was covered.
Do you by any chance know a dealer in Columbus Ohio you could recommend to do this repair?
Thankyou in advance,
Lance

Hi Lance,
I'm sorry to say, the wiper motors are not covered under the Added Care SC, and now for more bad news, Right Wiper Motor #4643065 MSRP $489.00
Most of the time it is the right motor. If you have a service manual there is a good test in there for checking problems with the wiper system. If you don't have one, call me and I'll fax that test to you.

So are the wiper motors the same for all years? I am just wondering if I could locate a slightly used motor?

Guess I'd better do the diagnostic test.... what page is that test on Mr. Wizard?

Thankyou again,

Lance

BTW, I do drive in the rain, so wipers are a must.

Lance,

For whatever work you do get done at a local dealer, you are very close to Nelson Auto Group. They're in Marysville, OH. St. Rt. 33 west about 15 miles from you. They deal in Vipers and are also a Lambo dealer. The tech that was recommended to me is Kearney McEldowney @ 614-793-9000 ext. 266 (yes he has his own extension). I've only met him once to give my car a complete once over. A friend that owns two Vipers has used him for the last few years and speaks highly of him. Seems like a good guy to me.
