Default Emissions testing??

I'm getting ready to buy a black 99' RT/10 that is bone stock. i'm going to have a aluminum flywheel put in along with a bad a** clutch only because under the warranty i decided to get a new tranny installed because it may have a minor problem but. I think i'm going with the B&B headers and CAT-back. but if i get the header back and run no cats will the car still pass emissions? Although in about 6 months i will be having a Roe supercharger installed and i hear that they don't pass emission standards. plus will some performance shops even delete the cats. Isn't it against the law?

Default Re: Emissions testing??

A lot depends on what emission testing is done in Belleville. FWIW, pass on the aluminum flywheel... Did that on my car and was - IN MY OPINION - a waste of money, made no noticable difference in STREET driveability, revs or how quickly the engine revved. Just my opinion.

In my car, stock cats were required to pass Colorado emissions (a pretty rigorous rolling / chassis dyno test; variable speeds, gear changes, accel / decel) with my Roe SC. One other local Roe SC car also required stock cats to pass CO emissions.

In both cases, cars were close, but would not pass with high-flow cats (and probably had NO CHANCE) without cats. With stock cats, both cars EASILY passed CO emissions.

So... While Roe SC may not be - stricly speaking - 50 state emission legal, I'll bet a nickel it can be made to pass anything short of a visual inspection.
