I just sold my restored 61 Bonneville convertable in order to get a Viper. Right now I have about $26k dollars budgeted. For that price I figure I should be able to get a higher milage Viper. So far I have found a 94 with 65,000 miles. Supposedly the car has had the head-gaskets, clutch and water pump done and has all maintenance records. It has AC, the GTS rims with new tires and the soft top with plastic windows. The seller is asking 28500 but is somewhat flexable.
The other plus is that the car is only about 4-5 hours away so that I would not need to pay to transport it and can inspect it easily. Providing that it has never been wrecked and that the mechanicals, interior and paint are in good shape what is a fair range for a car with high miles but has been well maintained? I would like to try and get some more money saved up but that would mean selling my other fun vehicle (my grandfathers 76 F-150) that I have spent a lot of money restoring and I would really rather not sell that if possible. I don't see any additional fun money in my future because I am not even 30, have a child on the way and we are in the middle of totally redoing our Kitchen. Thanks, Blake |

Sounds like a good deal to me. I got over $40k for my '95 with 70k miles on it two years ago.

I would think that any Viper that you can pick up in the high 20's would be a good deal if the car is clean and does not need a ton of work. No wrecks of course. Just make sure that you are willing to live with the condition of the car. Viper parts are not cheap, so "fixing it up" could be a loosing proposition. You may be ahead to save a little longer. Having said that, several guys around here have bought cheap higher mileage cars and have had great luck with them. Look it over real good and buy it if it is clean! |

Blake,
I'm in NJ as well and have my red '94 for sale. 73K miles, asking $27,900. Excellent condition. '97 GTS rims, custom seats, 6 point belts, Sony XPlod speakers & CD player, automatic door poppers, ice cold AC, soft top etc. Car is tight & runs perfect. Head gaskets were replaced as well. Let me know if you're interested - tim721@aol.com or PM me |

Chad - A local buyer picked up a 98 GTS (silver) for 32k... there was another one in town that went for something similar. each had 20-30k miles. of course, good luck finding a blue and white for that price (even with high miles) or a McViper...
