Perhaps this post doesn't belong here but I'll add my story in my GenII to justify. I got my annual inspection today. Long story short it passed with no issues. My problem is the inspector was very confrontational. He refused to allow me to pull MY car into the inspection bay. He preached state regulations and laws blah blah blah. After I finally allowed him to play god and bowed to his wishes not only did he change his attitude but he broke some of the very "laws" he was preaching to drive my car. While we were arguing he told me he was going to fail me for the "Viper GTS" sticker on my front windshield. I told him I would take it off. After he has his 15 minutes of control he says I can leave it on. And after all the talk about "he must drive the car into and out of the bay" he lets me drive it out.
I'm tired of this complete hypocrisy and control hungry jerks that inspect our cars. For those of you that have had to have this done too what do you do? And for those in my local area, is there someone I can trust that will respect MY feelings for my car? Now how do I get off of this box labeled soap? |

BTW...I was referred to a shop to test my AC (I was never a dealer fan....'cept for Chuck and Tom). Anyway...I explained I wanted to bring the car in, have the system checked and charged as needed, and I wanted to wait with my car. He was supposed to be a "car guy".....he said he didn't do things like that. I said..."meet Mr. Click" and hung up.
If you were under the gun to get it inspected....I see the dilema. If you have time....a search WILL pay off.Another note.....I got a front grill guard for the Dakota from my wife. Dropped it off last year for free inspection at dealer....they failed it. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why. They said it was the light guards in front of the headlights!! Talk to MP and/or Mark Cooper....they'll have the info you need!! |

If you're willing to make the drive, take it up to Ferrari of Washington just north of Dulles Airport on rt 28. Their service guys are the coolest around, and they respect both the cars and their owners.

Absolutely useless these people can be. I feel your pain. When I had to get emissions done for my car. It took them 15 minutes to open the hood, and 3 tries to get the emmissions test to work, during which there were dirty handprints all over my car, hood interior...Rediculous. So annoying.

I bet it was more that he just wanted to drive your car than give you any hassle about inspections. He was a jerk until you let him pull it in the bay. After that, it *seems* he became a nicer guy.

Yeah and that's kinda my point. I think the guy actually just wanted to have a power trip. "Oh here's Mr. Viper guy that thinks he's so special. Well I want to put him in his place." And, just as you mentioned Chad, after I gave him his 5 seconds of power he was okay.
kcobean is right. I should just go up to FoW. I've been up there many times. Never realized they would do inspections on Vipers. I don't mind the drive. I was in a bind as the inspection was to expire at the end of this month. Sorry for the rant and thanks for the calming advice. |

I drove around for half a day trying to find an inspection station that would do my car the way I wanted, NO putting it up on a lift (to inspect brakes) I found a guy who said he could do it, it passed no problem and I flipped him a twenty. I'll be back next year and he'll remember it.

The truck I use to earn money here in Va. while I am here temporarily does have VA tags and I do pay my fair share. I guess I could throw my home state tags on the Dakota and save that $$ for Viper stuff. |
