Car is with a friend right now, And he cannot get it to start. When he turns the key it starts for a second and turns right off. The lights start flashing on the interior, probably meaning the alarm needs to be disabled? The factory alarm pad was lost... so how do i disable it? and how do i get the car to start? Thanks! |

I understand there is an alarm reset/disable in the 'ceiling' of the glove box. You insert your key in that lock cylinder and turn it, then you should be able to start the car.
So says the newbie who doesn't have his car yet. |

I think you could disconnect the battery at the post under the hood. Not sure what you mean about the factory pad. Probably a gen 1 guy could be more help. OR why don't you call Chuck Tator? He could give you the answer for sure!

unplugging the battery will just guarantee that you have to reset the alarm with the key fob, which you already said you lost.
I'd call Chuck Tator: 914-763-3136 |

I would wait to hear what Chuck says but this might work.
Disconnect the battery behind the rear wheel and then remove the 4-5 screws holding the drive's side knee bolster (the pannel below the sterring wheel) and then remove the alarm module (it should be mounted in the area where you put your right hand knee on the trans column). This should disconnect the alarm entierly. The previous owner put in an aftermarket alarm and I have been toying with the idea of removing it and just using the factory alarm and I seem to remember the book providing the above information. |

any time I've had to reset the alarm I've had the key fob
I have no idea what this guy kcobean is talking about, the GenI glove box is a solid plastic box. I'll check my manual when I get home from work, but I'm sure Chuck will have it solved by then. |

Pm sent.
Note: GotaViper, I had a 2000 GTS with this problem. Could be different with a 94. 2005 Silver SRT/10 2000 Steel Gray GTS (sold) |
