5th Gear Wont Stay In Place
so im driving back home from our cart event and noticed my 5th gear wont stay in place and kept popping out to nuetral. every other gear stays in place incl 6th. i have to hold it in 5th. whats the problem? do i need a new tranny? my car is being picked up in 2 weeks for vegas!!! help!!

I had exactly the same issue due to poor oiling.
Your 5-6th gear sync ring is gone. Easy to fix for an expert (7 hours work) + unmounting and mounting the tranny. But STOP driving your viper or you will do more damage. I also burned out my main shaft ... I had to wait two days to get it. If you find a guy who repairs Corvette/Camaro/Mustang/Austin-Martin 6speed Tremec tranny he will fix it for you very quicky. The 5-6th sync ring is widely available in these shops. Once your tranny is fixed think about using a good tranny oil instead of the Mopar cooking oil.    |

that main shaft isn't burnt. It's just rusty from the steel sleeve that fits on it. Every tranny I've had apart, the shaft looks like that.
5th gear sycro is junk tho... |
