These came out a few years ago and never caught on, could have been the $2K price, but I think it just never worked very well, it was for drag racing only, the AC cannot keep up for everday driving and the way the system works is it reroutes your AC so you cook while you are using the Prechiller.

Hard to believe that the AC could cool all that intake air enough to do any good.
Also the drag from the AC isn't a small thing. The guy says this is used in offshore racing boats. I'm trying to figure out why it would work for a boat and not a car. Best I can come up with is that it doesn't do much for either. |

For a various obvious reason it would work better on a boat then a car. Think about how they cool their A/C condensor and how cars cool them.
Its still way retarded. Any guys fyi, the vipers do not kick of their A/Cs even at wot, only lose vacuum on the flaps and allows hot air to come in, and once you get off the gas, vacuum returns and cold air blasts. Its well docukmented here, and they even have a quick fix of a 1 way valve, that when put in line (its purely mechanical) your actually feel your cold a/c even at wot!! Jon |
