Default Aftermarket headers and NO FLEX PIPE

I'm about to put on some B&B headers on and noticed the deletion of the flex pipe.

When the motor torques...where is the flex now? Do the headers take the brunt of the motor movement?

When I installed my Belenger headers I bought a 3" flex pipe from Summit and installed it.

I am also going to install a new exhaust/muffler setup and had the exact same question.

So I assume that from GTSPOWERED's reply that it is recommended? Please confirm.

Cheers

Your motor shouldn't move that much unless you have a worn motor mount.

Belanger headers for the last 6 years / almost 60,000 miles. No flex pipe--no problems at all.

Ok...sounds good. I just replaced my motor mounts last summer, so I should be good.

Thanks

Assuming the GenII hangers are the same as GenI, just don't bolt up the hangers near the front of the side sills. I originally did bolt those up, that didn't leave enough flex in the system, and I ripped the hangers off the exhaust pipe (leaving a nice hole in the exhaust pipe too).

Is this simply good maintenace for your car? Are they worn out? What make/model of motor mount are you going to install?

Cheers

Exactly, and the flex pipe flows terribly. You'll lose HP by using a flex pipe.

How much of an issue are the front exhaust mounts?

Anyone else break the hangers off?

Yes, one of the brackets broke through the stainless steel exhaust pipe right at the weld joint.

I assume that there was to much torque and twisted the hanger which in turn broke through the pipe.

Could it be that the SS just got brittle and broke? There is some iron content in most SS exhaust systems. Throw in that SS doesn't dissipate heat well and you get a weak link.
