Trans./Gear whine - 5th gear at about 60mph, anyone??
I very seldom take my car into 5th and 6th. But went on a highway trip last night, and noticed a "slight" "whine" in 5th especially around 60.... Once you get above 60, it goes away.. Kind of a cross between a humm and a whine, very slight... Is this normal?? No noise in any other gears, than 5th and 6th..
Car has 13k miles, all stock, not driven hard. And just has a full fluid service done by tators. So, I know the fluid is full, and fresh.. |

Hope it's normal because mine does it also. I can hear it with the windows down at 60-65. My car has 12,000 on it, new rear end oil, transmission oil changed 3000 miles ago.

I have speed bumps in my neighborhood that are 100 feet apart and 60 is all I can get up to b4 I have to brake. You're in fine form today Dave..............you must have on the short shorts with those sexy white socks.

A lot of the Vipers have that humm/wine in 5th/6th [not all] which are your two overdrive gears and most of them have never changed over time.
 Keep an ear on it.Dave was that in reverse you were trying to do 60mph?
