Default Researching Viper for a friend

I've got a friend here in Nashville that's interested in buying his first Viper! He's really interested in a '98. Here's what he's found so far:

eBay Motors: Dodge : Viper (item 130233393644 end time Jun-30-08 20:44:11 PDT)

This one is a CA VCA member;
eBay Motors: Dodge : Viper (item 230264057041 end time Jun-27-08 17:18:58 PDT)

I've done searches trying not to duplicate responses, so, If there are other threads about these 2, please let me know. Does anyone know anything about either of these 2 cars??

Thanks in advance,
Chip Winter

The RT/10 looks like a good deal if you are looking for more stock and the GTS has some nice goodies if you want more. Wish I could afford another one so my wife has her own!!!

They made 549 Rt/10s in 1998, but only made 117 in 1997:

You were off by one line - 549 RT/10's in 1999, 379 in '98.
Your '97 is still the lowest production model, though!

There is significant difference between a lightly driven 98 RT/10 and a 98 supercharged, 700+HP GTS. And a little difference in the price too.
Which way do you think he wants to go ?

Hey Michael,
Do 97's have forged internals? (just in case) I can't remember.

He'd like the "never raced, garaged" 700HP, but really prefers the R/T to the Coupe. So he's leaning towards the stock car.

Absolutely . All the 92-99 cars have forged internals. Perfect to get a Roe bolted on and not go race

Internals? You mean pistons. Just pistons. That's the only forged item that is different in a viper engine from 92 to 99 & 00 to 02 (or up to 08 if you include the later gens).

Thanks! He really, really likes the look of an RT/10, and is leaning that way. But, I'll call you if he wants more info.

He lives close by, here in the Nashville area, so there's plenty of warm (I mean, hot and humid) days. Thanks for replies.
