Had to take my drivers door apart yet again to replace the power window mechanism (thank you Paul Scharf for a less than half of new priced used unit 800-338-4002) and then of course had to struggle with the piece of junk interior door lever bezel. I thinking of finding some nice looking black screws and putting four through the corners of the bezel so I never have to worry about it again. Anyone try this? Pictures?
P.S. VCA should find out who designed this piece so we can hunt him down. Seriously, it is a reason to buy a 99 over an older car. |

It plagues other Dodges. To repair a sticky door lock, I found that my Dakota has similar four-hook bezels that all face the same direction.

How about some epoxy? I've made repairs to the urethane interior panels using epoxy before, so I know it sticks. But I think tastefully done screws would be just fine too. I've got an '01 so I don't know 'zactly what your parts look like.
Also, can't say enough about Paul Scharf. I've bought parts from him and he always seems to handle things like you'd want it handled. |

It has to be removable so you cannot use permanent glue. I have used weather strip adhesive to cheat in the past and am currently using some black silicone to cheat - both which come of easily. I have contemplated calling Paul Scharf and seeing if he can set me up with 99+ door panels and interior handles as I understand the conversion is possible.

Would Velcro work? I would think that it might since the area is about perfect distance apart.

I had one break on my 96. There is a very long screw in the inside that hold the door handle mech. in place. I just drilled a hole lined up with the screws postion an it held it in place. Didn't look pretty, but sinc ethe bezel is trash any, it was a quick fix untill a new one could be ordered.

Last thing I want to do is pay $55 for another piece of junk bezel and be right back in the same spot. That is why I am thinking of external screws. I might even put some matching screws in the rear edge of the door panel where it is the thinnest to keep it tight to the door since the push-in clip sux too. No wonder people make fun of our interiors in particular and American car interior in general.

I agree that $55 for a POS bezel is ridiculous. I am pretty sure there is a company that sells an aluminum version (similarly overpriced), but hey, it won't break!
