VEC 2 communication error

Trying to hook up my laptop to the VEC2 for a data log. In the VEC2 software, I click the verify button, and get the message "communication error". After about 2 hours of trying to figure it out, I am looking for help.

Any ideas???

Make sure the VEC is set to the right port on the computer. You can find that in the VEC program settings and computer device manager I think.

If you are using a serial to USB port cable. You could try a different one. I had this issue last year with my new laptop which didn't have a serial port. The Radio Shack cable I bought, and exchanged......would not work. My EASE software would not work either. Both programs had worked with the old computer. I called EASE about it and they said they had seen this before with various cables....Radio shack being one of them. I bought one from EASE and no more issues with either program.

Thanks for the tip Steve, I will try a different cable and see if that works.

I tried but could never get the connection to work with Vista. What os are you using. Also I have had the vec 2 say "communication error" in the verify box and then work when I click on info, and then read or write.
