Just so you know, the wires that were arcing on me were the MSDs, relatively new too(8 month old). Just saying...........

The Gen 1 is non-return, so the pump cannot be suffering from hot fuel returned from the engine. If it is making a different noise, perhaps it is either failing to provide pressure when run for a while, or pushing too hard against a plugged filter. A quick, cheap thing might be to replace the fuel filter.

All right, my issue is fuel pressure. I am going to try Tom's suggestion and replace the filter, but I am guessing its the pump. PBJ just put in a Walbro 255 less than a year ago, and I have driven the car about 1800 miles since the install. Are these pumps that weak??

Relieve the pressure up at the manifold before you get under the car to change the filter.
In fact, do anything you can to protect your eyes when underneath- there is no good way not to get wet with fuel. Read up on how the fuel filter ends disconnect from the fuel line.

Thanks Tom, yeah, its a fun job for sure!! I am hoping the filter will fix the problem, but I am not holding my breath. If its the pump, I am wondering if it is still under any warranty, hmmmm

All right, before I start the tank removal, just wondering if my low fuel pressure could be the MSD BAP? Any way to test it? I would hate to remove the tank and replace the pump, only to find out it was not needed.
Also, any tips on tank removal? martyb |
