I may have been hibernating, but, I'm just wondering how many are aware of the hidden layer of commands in the VEC. I saw a post a little while back about the inability of the VEC in controlling larger injectors. The post did not relate to proportioning, however, related to the TIP-IN response and that the VEC could not control that aspect. If anyone is familiar with HPTuners, they have a series of tables that control the tip-in or as they refer to power enrichment under acceleration.
I talked to Sean and he indicated that tip-in could be controlled with a different version of the Vec software. I obtained the new software and there was a tip-in parameter, but, the interesting part was there were many/many new parameters that could be accessed. I just wonder how many of you knew about the hidden layer of programming and how many have actually utilized this advanced software.

Jack -
I am constantly fighting with tip-in. Please PM me whatever info you have. there are about a dozen cars out here i'd love to get working with a fixed tip-in! Also, I was never able to get large injectors (96 lb) to idle or run worth a darn w/ the VEC. with an AEM, no problem. If there is a secret, i'd like to learn it as I have a need for this right now on a friend's car. Thanks!!! |

wow, this is very interesting
![]() I know that I've had trouble with not being able to get a safe, rich AFR in the first 500rpms of WOT. Is this what you are talking about?

That is part of it. Most of the other engine management systems have the tip-in feature. With the enhanced vec software you sync it with either vacuum or throttle position. I have not tried it yet, some of the parameters and drop-downs need further explanation.

So, where did you get the software?

From Sean The software is merely a new INI file. When you open with the new INI file you will see an additional set of "Model Presets". When you choose "General Data Set" in stead of one of the Viper presets, several new parameters show up. When you go to the fuel options it has a "Acceleration Fuel Enrichment" set of parameters. I thought more of the forum would have seen this already. This is my winter project. An analog input is needed to drive the enrichment. Although it would be easy to use the map signal, I think the throttle would be a better choice due to better resolution.

grrrrrrrrrr... 3+ years of tuning VEC's and I've wanted this feature. This is the primary reason that the VEC isn't an ideal match for TT cars... the Tip-In! But now we can do it?
Please past the INI file here (it is a text file). I'd love to see it!! |

Hmm, I'm interested in this now. But can this correct my lean condition at 2k rpm?

Sounds like this will take care of some of the driveability issues! Looking forward to seeing what you can do Joseph.

Joe: I sent you the file - did you get it? If you did not, I have the wrong email address. We just need to get the two tip-in parameters set. You can do it without any additional input by using the MAP existing signal. I think the throttle position would be better, but, if the MAP works, why bother bringing in another analog.
