Default 1994 RT/10 - StopTech Brake Install

I did some lurking and posting but could not find a post on a Gen1 with the StopTech big brake kit. I found all the Gen 2 info I needed. With the year end blow out JonB was offering on the kits I couldn't pass it up.

I went with the ST60 (6 pot) front calipers and ST40 (4 pot) rear calipers (nominal price difference between ST60 or ST40 fronts). The kit was a cinch to install - although you install it about 3 times when it's your first time.

There is a spot of grinding required on the rear iron uprights not mentioned in the instructions to clear the parking brake (relocated stock rear caliper) - mainly mold flashing removal.

I'll post some day time photos soon.

Just wanted to motivate some of you Gen1 owners!

Yes, they work GREAT!!! No more pull to the right! I now have confidence with the center pedal!

Call JonB - I've heard rumors there might be one of the kits still lying around for the "blow out" price ????

Wheels are the SRT 6-spokes (18" F/19" R).
Tires are PS2 295 Front/PS Cup 345 Rear - NO Rubbing!

Thanks guys! Was fun and nerve racking all at the same time - that's a LOT of grinding!

See the chopping in action on Ryan's post:
RT/10 Brakes

PS:
This is all Dave's fault! Thanks for mentioning something to JonB - I'm very happy with the end result (function & form).

It looks like rain for the next few days - once the sun pokes it's head out I'll get some good photos.

I plan to, weather permitting.

Given that we are both Weaverized (tuned) we've got no excuses

As promised - daytime photos.

IMO:
This might be the perfect Gen1 wheel - they look like what should have came on the RT stock.

PS:
This threw my speedo off exactly 5mph according to the GPS on my Pasport 9500. Speedo indicating 65 - 9500 indicating 70.

Is there a gear/fix for this? (JonB, Chuck, etc?) The advanced math is starting to hurt my head

Nice brakes on the Gen I and very good looking car!

I was looking at the cars mods and I see a Chip. What kind of a Chip is it? thanks.

That would be a joke - the "chip" part. This Gen1 is pretty heavily modified.

read about it here:
Gen 1 ... more power

Great "how-to". I looked at it prior to doing my install.

Attached are some photos of Gen1 specifics - mainly dealing with the iron uprights and A-arms. There are NO clearance issues on the lower ball joint like there is on a Gen2...But ther is clearance issues on the parking brake bracket on the Gen1. You can see all the cast flashing that must be removed, and then some.

Gentleman...start your grinders!!!

...forgot one other Gen1 feature:

The bolt hole for the front SS brake line clamp that attached to the back side of the spindle is too small and will require adjustment (1/2" drill worked just fine).
