Default Service Bulletin - Air Jack Lines

Viper Race HQ has discovered a potential air jack line issue on newer Competition Coupes. We have discovered a manufacturer defect in a few lines that could result in the separation of the line from the end fitting. Once this occurs, the air jacks on a Competition Coupe will not be operational and all of the line pressures will be lost, lowering all jacks.

The manufacturer has discovered the cause of the problem and has determined that only a few lines may have potential problems. Unfortunately, there is no way to visually inspect the lines. To be safe, we recommend that all customers taking delivery of their cars from late May 2003 to present remove and send their lines directly to the manufacturer for inspection and testing.

The owners of the following vehicles should have received their cars after May 2003:

C19, C26, C28, C31, C32, C35-C56

If you own one of these vehicles, remove the lines and return them to the manufacturer. All lines will be tested and repaired/replaced as needed. Lines will be sent back out to customers within a 24 hour period.

Each customer should package their lines, include their name and address inside the package for return shipping, and send to:

Goodridge USA Inc.,
Attn: Viper Repair Program
529 Van Ness Avenue
Torrance, CA 90501

The following excerpt is taken from the current Viper Competition Coupe service manual:
Quote:
Pneumatic jacks are a factory option for all Viper Competition Coupes. The jacks are intended to raise the vehicle only, not to support the vehicle for maintenance or service. Jack stands located at frame rails, near front and rear axle centerlines should immediately be installed after the pneumatic jacks are operated. Never work on, under, or around a vehicle until proper jack stands or support devices have been installed after air jack operation.
Always put safety first and install those safety supports. Most racing series require the use of these on pit lane prior to any work for good reason.

As always, please contact Viper Race HQ with any questions.
