Default Radio Controlled Vipers?

I searched the archives and found nothing on R/C Vipers (I want to get one for my son (and me)). Also the one shown on the toys page will not pull up a match. Any sources?

Don look under the Toys, Collectables topic. There is the info you are looking for.

I went to toys, etc. topic and there were two posts for jackets and one for a pewter viper in a tin. I went to the archives for this topic and it was empty. The toystore page, as I mentioned would not link me. Am I still looking in the wrong place? Thanks

Para makes an electric 1/10 scale R/C Viper and HPI makes a nitro 1/10 scale Viper. The HPI is pretty fast and the body needs to be painted. Search Hobby stores R/C the following link has ORECA#51 on the home page. http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/261781.htm

I have the HPI nitro Viper. I painted it in silver to match my GTS. Once you get the air/fuel mixture right, the thing really moves! I crashed it into a tree at top speed, however, and broke a few suspension parts. I need to rebuild it

I already did a porting job on the motor and it seemed to wake it up quite a bit!

I bought a RC Viper from this website, www.arroyorc.com It was $69.95 + shipping. The car runs pretty good and has held up to some pretty good abuse. It comes in either red #91 or blue #94. 27mhz only. Battery and charger cost $16.95. Good luck!

I bought one at Target this week. $29!! It is an electric- no gas, but is a gaudy metallic blue with lots of graphics. GTS body.
Made by Tyco, ( www.tycorc.com ), but I could not find it on their web site.

I race the RC cars for a hobby!! Now, if you are going to spend a bunch of money on these cars, which, in fact, you will, go with the HPI for a starter car. Even if you are going to just mess around with it in your driveway, the HPI is really reliable. Yes the body is ready to be painted, but it comes with decal stickers, etc. I know a lot about this particular topic, so if you have questions, please ask, because its *REALLY* easy to buy the wrong thing!!! E-mail me, and I will answer any and all of your questions.

Hope this helps!-Merry Christmas!!

Clint, Alan,

Do you guys know of a place where I can buy parts for these cars online?

I crashed my car into a tree probably going 30mph or so, and I cracked a front rim and broke the servo that controls the steering. Before I figured out that the servo was broken, I took the car into my yard to see if it still ran, and it did - but made a sharp turn into my swimming pool! DOH! After I dived in and got it out, the radio receiver was burned out. On top of it all, I had glued the tires to the rims with Superglue (as per the instructions), and I while I tried to get another tire off the rim, it ripped and left half my tire stuck to the rim! DOH DOH DOH!

I rebuilt the engine after this, and it runs great (faster than ever!), but I now need a new set of rims and tires, a new steering servo, and a new speed controller. I also need some of the fuel for this puppy.

My local hobby shop is nowhere near me, so I'd rather order this stuff online if possible.

If you more experienced guys can help, I'd appreciate it!

Mike,
Not sure what kind of kit you have? Speed control=electric.. Fuel=gas?? I'll assume you have a nitro RS4 but these sites have you covered regardless.
If you need common parts or would like to upgrade the parts you broke. Check www.towerhobbies.com (specifically http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0094p.pgm?P=P&P=7&F=HPIC0003&L=HPIC0350&C=CMAH PI -->This is the first of MANY pages of HPI parts) for pretty much anything you need at prices much lower than any retail hobby shop. Just search for HPI or RS4. There is an incredible after-market for these things.. Not unlike the viper business, you can find pretty much anything you want. I would definitely look into some foam tires. Pro-line/JACO makes some nice ones. If your going to run the car often, you will see it EATS those ~$40-60 tire sets up at an alarming rate.
Look at HPI's site for any hard to find parts. Refer to your instruction manual if you are not sure what you broke. http://www.hpiracing.com/buyhpi.htm . Good luck with it and remember a little chassis tweak or bad alignment will cause these cars to go nuts so take your time putting it back together. Let us know if you have any problems. I'm sure there are several of us here that have spent WAY too much time and money on these things and can answer your questions..
Scott

Bullet, you seem quite knowledgeable. What do you race? I do electric, not gas, but have driven the gas cars before. Right now I have a TC-3, and a Trinity Switchblade 12th scale. I'm getting a Modena body form Protoform for Christmas for the TC-3. If you would like a cool site for RC stuff, they have message boards and everything. RCtouring.com Its a cool site!

Thanks for the info.

I said speed controller when I meant radio receiver. I used to be into the electric cars, and I had the little black box on my desk and got myself mixed up.

I found the Tower Hobbies site to be really good - I ordered some stuff from them, and the rest from HPI's website.

I do have the RS4 Nitro car... starting to think about getting something else in addition to it - maybe the new Kyosho MP 7.5 and maybe even see if I can't do a bit of racing with it.

This stuff is addictive, isn't it?

Mike, they have 1/5 scale cars which really are impressive. Very fast too. The major downside is the price, which can run up to $1,500 just for the kit. Do you race yours at a track, or just mess around. I race my TC-3, and yes it is VERY addicting.
