Worked in a magazine and paperback warehouse for $2.00 an hour. Did that for several years. Decided that manual labor and I did not get along. I swore I would never do it for money again. So far, so good.

I was hired by an Army Research Center as a network administrator the day after I was old enough to work (16). Before that I had done some computer consulting but nothing worth mentioning. Now I own a software development firm and an advertising firm (just started).

Hey Eric, did you work for THE Jesse James? The one who's been in Hot Rod TV so much recently with his motorcycles?

I got a job in the afternoon in a Barbeque restaurant. The original one Demeris in Houston is still open on Shepard near West Alabama. I got $1.00 an hour. Being the competitive individual I am the manager was going to buy a Potato peeling machine. I out peeled it. Big mistake.

My move was to go to a Pizza Place. Panjo's for all you old Houston people. I only got $1.65 an hour in 1975. You California people just had it too good. I had a '67 Ford XL which used quite a bit of gas so I needed the job.

My last minimum wage job of course was being a Medical Resident in Houston. Even though we were paid about $25K a year, it still translated to less than minimum wage. They started making us keep track of our hours worked, but they stopped when people were turning in time sheets of 120 plus hours a week. (They were real)
