It seems to me that there are a lot of car enthusiasts on this board on a regular basis. I know that the Viper is one of them, but I was wondering what is your favorite Hot Rod/Muscle car?
ps. I got to ride in a 68 SS Camaro, 402 (not stock),4 speeds of fun, red, that gets my vote. Thanks |

Believe it or not ...
1963 R3 Studebaker Avanti This car had a Paxton supercharger ... stock. In 1962 Hot Rod Magazine test drove one and got (from memory) 13.6/108mph. I have the Lark version of that car .... the ultimate street sleeper. Did extensive street racing in early 70's and beat every single car, one summer, that came to Winkys, the local hot car watering hole. The car was TOTALLY INVISIBLE TO POLICE!!!!!! (I am shouting OUT LOUD!!!) It was the anti-Viper! Now I have both! The Good and the Ugly (Bad). The Invisible and the Undeniable! [Funny, both are Red!] Aside from my peculiar tastes, then would come, Hemis, and BB Chevs |

Aside from the Viper (the all around winner),I think that a 1962 Dodge 413 Cross Ram Max Wedge car was a great start,(came from the factory with straight pipe caps you could unbolt for straight exhaust). When you opened the hood on that baby, you knew there was something "different" about it, those cross ram intakes were something to see, the two four bbl carbs just about sat over the shock towers! It was the first "muscle car" to get into the 12's. Even the Beach Boys sang about that car in "Shut Down." Then it would have to be a Hemi Dart followed by a Stage IV 426 Max Wedge. I gotta throw in a '67 427 Stingray Corvette roadster, that was also one hairy beast!
Here is what a 413 Cross Ram looked like. this one is in a Chrysler 300! A W E S O M E! |

If you've never put a 302 engine though it paces, you will never understand. That motor just loves to sing. I've had a few, but also have one that I've had for 26 years. |

Back in my school days a friend had a Morris Minor (yep- that's not a typo). This one had a full ladder frame and a built 327. I watched him dust a blown Nomad once- it was over in the first 60 feet.

It's so hard to decide. It's like trying to pick a favorite super model. Each one has something you like and you wouldn't say no if someone gave it to you! Some of my picks in no special order.
COPO '69 Camaro, Stage series Buick GS,'69 427 Biscayne, '64-'65 lightweight Super Stock Dodge,(not really a muscle car) and any granny lookin' big post car with a huge motor!dj |

Bob,
Do you have a picture you could e-mail me, I love those intakes! They were just awesome, you could actualy hear the intakes "ring" as the Beach Boys say in their song Shut down, because of the long runners and the air being pulled down through them. I guess the drag racers used to pack the intakes full of ice to make the fuel mixture denser, that's an old drag race trick that still works today, only they use cool cans now. I also liked the Hemi with the Rat Roaster intake that was an awesome manifold too. |
