If you have DSS the not too long ago released Ultimate TV is great. Allows you to record to shows at the same time. Its an extra $10/month on whatever service you have but its got some sweet features including interactive web tv and 10hours/month of web browsing.

My biggest need is archiving SVHS I already have.
I'm going to transcribe all my cassettes and real to real tapes to CDR and then get rid of all the machines. So that leaves the VCRs... |

Digital VCR - Any Suggestions?
I need to buy a new VCR and I'm running SVHS currently.
I hate to spend bucks on analog when digital is so close. DVHS is out there and there is only one JVC VCR that has MPEG 2 encoding built-in that I know of - and it is not yet available. http://www.alfaglade.com/jvcdvhs.htm Of course, converting over to DVD may be just barely feasible now. Of course, capatability with HDTV is of course an issue. This is way too complicated. |
