Default The New Supra Owner....(depressing)

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly
change things. Each year the staff at Delmar International Raceway in Delaware puts together a list to try to give the employees a sense of the mindset
of this year's incoming Supra Owners.

Here's this year's list:

The people who are in dire need of a supra this spring across the nation were
born in 1983:
- they are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up
- their lifetime has always included AIDS
- bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic
- the CD was introduced the year they were born
- USSR and Cold War mean nothing to them
- they have always had an answering machine
- they have always had cable and UHF means nothing to them
- they cannot fathom not having a remote control
- the beginning of 1st grade was filled with talk of some wall in Germany falling down
- Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show
- popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave
- they were prepubescent when the gulf war took place
- Microsoft has always owned the world
- Regan was shot? they wouldn't know, nor would they know he almost died from it
- cordless phones have been around forever
- they never took a swim and thought about Jaws
- they couldn't identify a Datsun if their life depended on it
- they probably never seen a John Candy film in a theater
- they can't imagine what hard contact lenses are
- the titanic was found? They never knew it was ever lost
- they don't know who Mork was or where he was from
- they never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a
Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane"
- they don't care who shot J.R.& have no idea who J.R. even is
- Michael Jackson has always been white
- McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers
- they don't have a clue how to use a typewriter and few have ever actually seen one

(if you know of anything I missed email me and I'll add it to the list)

Gawd that's funny.

Lucky new Supra owners. As I go through that list I realize it's probably a much better world now (except for AIDS and Michael Jackson being white) without a lot of those things ... Like the Soviet Union, Mork and Fantasy Island. Good riddance to bad rubbish

A new needle for the record player?
Eight track tapes

One lonely, blown, cracked speaker in the middle of the dash, full volume, cranking out 8 and a half watts of pure rock and roll.

I have to go take a nap now.

I was born in '76 and I feel old! You know it's bad when you REMEMBER the year in which people you hang out with were born. I REMEMBER 1983! I was in the 3rd grade...

This thread is depressing

Geez. 1983. Year I graduated from UofM (that's Minnesota to you Michigan types). Pleasant memories but new cars in 1983 were DOGS! Thank goodness we are living in the good ole days.

Hmmmm, I can remember being sent home from school when Kennedy died. That would be JOHN Kennedy.

Also, how about the Cuban Missle Crisis? Any youngsters know about that?

Ok, maybe I can make you guys feel a little worse

My first memory of "wartime" was the Falklands islands... I was asking my parents what was going on. I was about 13 or 14 when the Gulf war was going on. I graduated high school in '94, and turned 21 in '97. I DO remember having a black-and-white TV, and one that had no remote control. I do remember records as they were being phased out for tapes. I don't remember 8-tracks. The earliest president I remember was Reagan. I had no concept of working in a recession until this latest one. I never knew what it was like NOT to have a cell phone in the car. The USSR collapsed before I was old enough to really understand what the cold war was even all about. The only thing I know about Vietnam was that some of my friends Dad's were there. There was a war in Korea? I don't remember when new cars DIDN'T have keyless entry.

Ok, I feel a little better now
