I am curious why so many people do not use their real names to post on this board?
I can understand if this was a Hacker site or an Adult board, but have been puzzled why so many don’t use their real names. Most of the elected officers are not posting with their names. When I first arrived on the Viper scene, I did not know that I was reading posts from some of the Viper owners that I had already met. If you have a screen name, I wish they would sign off with their real name so that I know who they are. So this is not a Flame or negative posts, just wanting to know why? Jerry |

Personally, I prefer an adjective psuedonym for a last name, cause it throws off the government spies!
Seriously, many people are afraid of identity theft, internet hackers, stalkers, et al. The less you tell 'em, the better, right? |

I generally sign with my name. As 99% of the message boards have users with made up names, it only seemed natural here. Oh, and this is Off Topic, so look for it there...

Jerry, I am leary of using my entire name on the internet. Just too many creaps out there trying to rob you blind. Therefore, I use my first so people at least know that.

I often wonder why people use their real names
this is not your local neighborhood hang out this is the internet. There are many wacky people out there, and I for one don't want my name to be floating around on the net. |

You KNOWWWW Dodge reads this board. I talk about my modifications and racing around town and at the track. I'd hate to show up at the dealership to get something looked at and find out that it won't be covered under warranty because I publicly stated that I've raced my car. But, as Big Carrot I can say I race, I spray, yata yata! And they can't do anything about it. You see? Anonymity is a great thing when big brother is watching.

I do use my name, but since I have 2 personalities within one mind, it all depends which one is speaking at the time.

It would really be only a matter of a simple search to find out where I live and possibly what I do. Plus considering how many people don't like me I feel much safer for my Gfriend and cars if nobody knew who/where they are. |

![]() I used my full name as my ID for three days, then I noticed black helicopters constantly flying by my home. That was enough for me, so I decided to use my middle name, "YellowSnake." |
