I have the digital music on my home cable service and it sucks.
I would expect satellite radio to suck correspondingly. My theory regarding this sucking is that these services are nothing more than glorified MUSAC where programming is determined by market and statistics. It is soul-less. The personalization of a disc jockey who has a radio program gives the music selection a kind of life. Tom PS. Actually MUSAC does use psychology in their programming. They have a cycle which starts will very laid back tunes that slowly build in energy level. At the end of the cycle, the energy level is substantial. However, since it was built slowly, you don't notice it. At the end of the cycle, there is a pause of a number of minutes while you "forget" the last tune. They then start over. Actually, not a bad plan. All of your rock bands do that. They keep "turning it up" as they play so that at the end of the concert they are playing at a level that would have been offensive at the beginning... |
