I was to see a Hollywood movie of Hannibal, the Cathinian who terrorized the Roman empire for decades.

Yes, he ran amok for something like 20 to 30 years and they couldn't beat him!

He finally took a deal from them and they double crossed him.

When Rome finally went into Carthage, they obliterated it to dust so that it took scholars something like 800 years to find its remains.

Hannibal's tactics are still taught in the military as far as I know.

What a guy!

It is actually the second time this book has been filmed. The first was called Manhunter and was directed by Michael Mann. VERY good interpretation of the book and EXTREMELY intense, complete with a very convincing Hannibal, albeit not Anthony Hopkins. Go rent it at Blockbuster (saw it there the other night). Definitely good use of Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida as well. I hope the new movie can live up to it!

I just hope its better than Hannibal. I loved the new Clarice(sp?) but the entire plot seemed a little thin compared to Silence. Ed Norton should be a killer, if you excuse the pun, anti-Lector...
