We just found out that our neighbors have the ability to listen to our conversations. The guy works for the Navy and has some sort of system that allows him to listen conversations both on the phones and out in the open. Does anyone know of a device that would scramble, or ruin his system?? Any ideas on how to combat this without him knowing that I know?? Any ideas at all would be appreciated...thanks!!

If that is true it's an invasion of privacy.
Mossberg 590 might be a good deterant. |

Why are you worried about letting him know that you know? Maybe diplomacy is a better option than technology in this case...

I say have fun with it. If you know they listen all the time call a friend and BS stuff like playing with his water meter and stuff like that. Get him paranoid about stuff. Could be fun. Eye for an eye I say.

What are you worried about? He's only gonna be listening when you're making love to your wife.

Depends on what kind of system he's using as to whether you can shield from it. Some systems can listen to what you are saying by using lasers to measure windows flexing from sound waves hitting them. Pretty hard to guard against something like that.
However, if you really have reason to believe he is using 'military' equipment to spy on his civilian neighbors, a call to the local NIS (Naval Investigative Service) which is the equivalent of the Navy FBI would probably put him out of business. You don't just take military spy stuff home to play with. The exception might be if he is a civilian subcontractor and the equipment is legally his or his company and he is just 'testing' it. http://www.navy.gov.au/6_facts/1_investigat.htm On the other hand, if the equipment is civilian and he just happens to work for the Navy, then you're probably screwed. In that case, just run a porno video several hours each night in a back room somewhere. If he looks at you with awe and respect the next time you run into him, at least you know he's been listening --- Ken |

Hey Biff, I've seen you at a couple Viper events in MD, just saying hi there.
I say you could play with his buttons a little. But don't get him too worked up or he'll probably can call CIA or FBI and have you completely bugged and wired. But you can get a restraint probably on him through invasion of privacy (though I'm no lawyer of course) |

How do you know he has this device?? If so, isn't that an invasion of privacy??

What he is doing is listening to your cordless phones. He can also listen to things inside the house if you have a baby monitor.
I'm not sure if your cordless phones are protected by any law. Your cell phones are protected. If you have a baby monitor, unplug it. I have a cordless that has a "scrambled" mode. I'm an old electronics warfare guy but I never looked into how well the "scrambled" mode works. If you talk into phones that are not cordless, he will not be able to monitor you. There is no practical way that he can listen to the inside of your house without a baby monitor or an implanted bug. |

Thanks everyone!!.. I know the opportunity to play with his mind is there however I want to rid him of his toy!!.. I don't like the idea of someone listening to me or my wifes conversations.. I was hoping there would be some sort of device that I could turn on to create "static" in the air waves or something???...There has got to be something I can do??....Thanks for the input...
Are you sure he can't listen inside my house ??? I can change the phone to non-cordless ones. |
