I'm moving into my new place next month, and I will need a houseful of furniture. I've considered different strategies offered by my friends, but I thought I would see if there are any with experience here on the board. The best I've heard so far is to borrow my friends pass and go to market in Dallas (wholesale), or get all the product names and numbers and go to North Carolina. Either of these scenarios will require contracting a trucking firm to bring it to me, and Dallas is much closer.
Thanks in advance for any other ideas... |

Katz Furniture, Essex Street, NY, NY
Unbelievable prices ... and I'm sure he'd arrange for delivery (as everything is drop shipped from the factory anyway) Go to all the furniture stores/websites and select your brand, models, etc .. then try Marty Katz. Everyone that tries him can't believe the prices. (I sound like a commercial?) |

Chicks love shopping for furniture and it's something you gotta do anyway so kill two birds with one stone and find a babe to bring along. Go out some weekend and find one to go with you and afterwards she'll be more than willing to give you some.
You know which room to start with. |

Bigs I own a furniture store heres some tips.First if you go to these furniture markets you will not be allowed to buy.You have to have a business and they would need credit checks and all that.Your best approach is to go to a medium size store trie and work with the owner tell him you want to buy a house full of furniture. When we write larger orders
we make package deals.I just did one for a young couple they bought a 4 pc sofa set complete king size bedroom set sofa love motion set and a and king size bed. total cost with tax 5963.72 and I sell nice stuff.they ended up getting the bedroom set for cost---king bed was 1099 but they paid 799. the lane motion set we made our mark on the 4 pc sofa set they saved 400.00 king bed-cost600. sold 799. cost 4 pc sofa set 1189. sold 1899. cost 7 pc bedroom set.1359----sold cost cost sofa love motion 1095. sold 1659. trie to work with the owner we dont like zeros and will get you the best deals.some furniture stores are ripoffs ,shop there are a lot of honest dealers we want your business. |

Classifieds, bought last year for x, selling now for half. Get the good stuff. Cheap furniture doesn't last. Buy it to last a lifetime. And plan on keeping it. Even Corvettes don't depreciate as much as new furniture. The only things I look for "new" are mattresses. Dining room sets, china cabinets, desks, cherry bed frames (sleigh, poster)....basically anything made of wood you should shop for a desperate seller. Couches? I could see wanting a clean one, but that can be had as well if you search enough. I have a friend in Houston that owns a store, but you're back to trucking with that one. If you're interested in that, I'd be happy to "recommend" him & let him know your coming.
