I split water on my laptop and now it's dead. The hard drive works fine, but when I access it, (my documents) it won't allow me to get into it? I am using a 2.5" hard drive case with a usb connection...any idea why? I think it has something to do with the operating system that is already on it? Not sure...any idea's how to get this info I need?
Thanks. Adam |

Sounds like you had encryption set up for your personal files (My Documents) that was associated with your Windows user account. Unless you can boot up off that hard drive and put in your password, there's not really much else you can do. If you're good with linux, you can grab a copy of Knoppix ( http://www.knoppix.org ) and see what kind of utilies that they have for removing the windows encryption. Another thing that you can try is to remove the password all together with Ultimate Boot CD ( http://www.ultimatebootcd.com ). I'm not sure if that will solve the encryption problem, but it's worth a shot.
