I will go first. I grew up in a "car" family. My dad had a 57 T-bird. My older brother, a 67 GTO and 71 Vette. I have had the following (nearly all bought new):
93 Caddy STS 95 Viper RT 01 Vette 00 GTS 05 C6 Vette (one of first made) 05 Caddy XLR 05 Comm Ed SRT 06 Caddy XLR-V As you can see, although I could afford others, for my fun cars I buy American. I have to admit however for my wife and kids I buy Asian (07 Odyessey, 06 Pilot, 05 Accord) I tried American for them but got tired of replacing transmissions and putting up with "attitude". Of the cars I have owned the most exciting in terms of ownership was my first green 95 Viper. Nothing has topped that car in terms of excitement. My best Viper is by far my 05. The XLR-V is the best overall car I have owned and gets as much or more attention than the Vipers. The Vettes were disappointing for various reasons (paint, electronic problems, no Vette techs) but Vettes remain the best bang for the buck in the world and w/o them we would not have our Vipers. Ironically, the best sedan is one I did not own. I have driven Mercedes, BMWs etc but the best I have ever driven was an STS-V that my Caddy dealer loaned me. My God, what a car (once you get past the kinda cheesy interior) |

Viper is my still my dream car after 2 years of ownership and am still wondering if I can ever get as excited about buying a car again. Not in my sig yet is my 1999 C5 Vette and it is a great car but when I want it all I drive the Viper.
Best daily driver was my 1987 Camaro 6 cyl I bought in 1991 with 62k miles for $3,600. I beat on it till 167k miles and only replaced the transmission. Earlier this year I got a 1993 6 cyl Camaro with 76k for $5,300 including 3 yr warranty looking for history to repeat itself. |

98 Viper RT/10 97 Viper GTS Best car meaning dependability? 98 Viper RT/10 97 Viper GTS 97 Chevy S10. I beat the snot out of that poor little truck and it finally started to die at 150,000 miles. |

91' Grandam bought it 9 years ago (for $3800) w/12k on a newly replaced engine (per factory recall), it finally died a couple weeks ago w/230k on it. Only problem I remember is the ECU had to be replaced about 5-6 yrs ago, and the starter had to be replaced about 1 year ago. That car had the snot run out of it and it was solid as a rock
Fun factor definitly goes to the Viper! |

This is the car that lead me to the Viper. It taught me how to drive on the edge and because it's underpowered but handles well it helped me to fine tune my driving skill (be what they may). I'll never sell it. It's like an old friend.
The Viper is just a Miata on steroids. |

I also have to go with my 99 GTS. I havn't had much to compare it to since this is my first real fun car. I figured I might as well start near the top

The best car I've owned is my current car, a 1985.5 Prelude. It's starting to leak oil by the gallon though, so I may have to shoot it soon.
The only other car I've owned was a 1979 Subaru GF, so you can see why the 'Lude is the best. |

viper choice is easy.
but i had great luck with my dodge omni. i too ran the crap out of the thing and it never blinked. parts were cheap, good gas mileage, insurance was cheap, one of the last "real metal" cars. |

I have to go with my ex 1991 Jim Clark Lotus Esprit Turbo SE.
Incredible character, unbelievably reliable, and very good resale value. Probably the cheapest Total Cost of Ownershop car I have owned, and I have owned a decent number. |

Viper takes easy win here as most fun.
My second all around favorite: 1996 Chevy Impala SS My Most relaible: 1993 Honda del Sol Si - 275,000 on odo still running My most useful: 1988 Jeep Comanche (modified to handle extreme weather) By far least reliable, hardest to work on, and overall most costly: 97 BMW 540i/6 Sport |

My GTS, of course.
But like big-n-italian, I have a thing for L bodies, too. I had more fun/$ with my second '86 Shelby Charger than anything else. At the end it would do 14.10 at 99mph and still got 30+ on the highway. That was a real hands on car. |

I have always wanted an M5 and would have pined away my pennies until I got one. Thanks to this car I have learned my bimmer-lession on a less-than-$40,000 example. I concede you your props Lee - you were absolutley right and had the whole fiasco pegged from day one. I have learned my lession...... that's why I got the mustang... |

Besides the Viper, of course,
Most reliable: '89 240SX. Handled great but lacked HP Most recognizable: '80 trans am with a big bird on the hood Least reliable: '84 trans am..no bird...I think that was the problem Regret selling: '72 Chevelle...worth some $$$ now, I think. ~Craig |
