So I'm sitting here at home this morning watching the news and I hear my neighbor's truck alarm going off. I didn't think much of it as it has gone off several time before, only this time it keeps going off (on for 30 secs. off for 10 secs.). So I look out the window and see him continually getting in and out of the cab. I'm thinking, he's trying to find the wire to disconnect the alarm, WRONG!!!! He was repeatedly trying to start it! This goes on for about 20 minutes.....then he has his wife pull out her car and they try to jump start his truck since he can't seem to start it!!!!! At this point I have tears running down my face in laughter. They continue this futile effort for another 10 minutes, with no success of course. Finally he had a flash of genius and disconnected the battery.
I know, I know, I should have gone out and helped him, but when your THAT stupid forget it! |

I had a neighbor's car alarm go off for like 10mins when I was working in the garage. So I thought I'd be nice and go help her out since the husband is a non car guy anyway. I ran over there disconnected the battery and reconnected it so the alarm goes off. I put it all back together and the wife is already inside the house. Not one thank you or acknowledgement. It's like I was supposed to do it. Her 10 yr old son was the only one who said Thank you. I guess that's the last time I help them out.

This may sound a little odd, but it would have made me feel better about doing it hearing the little kid say thanks and not the mom. Most kids these days have zero manners and when I hear/notice a kid respecting their elders and using common courtesy, especially at such a young age, it makes me feel good. Back on topic. I cant stand car alarms going off. Most people will take their precious time to turn one off. I probably would have sat and watched them go at their fiasco as well. lol... |

When I first bought my Eclipse, I accidentally set off the alarm in a Books-a-Million parking lot. I felt like an idiot because the remote wouldnt shut it off. This young couple drove over to me and said it'd probably go off if I just put the key in the door and unlocked it. It did. I still felt like an idiot, but atleast that freaking alarm had quit making noise. Since then, I've seen 2 other people with the same problem (alarm going off and remote wont shut it off) and drove over and told both to open the door using the key. My $0.02, car alarms are useless anyway. If someone wants your car, they're gonna get it. But, if its the owner trying to get in the car, its gonna go off and not shut up and make you look like an idiot. lol

The mom may have been too exasperated and/or embarrassed to show her face.

My neighbors probably think the same about me. I've been trying to get the transmission back in the Viper for 2 days, and finally admitted defeat and called a friend for help. I'll never try to do it again, and it's not worth the stress and aggrivation to save money. The car is up on jack stands and I'm just waiting for it to fall and kill me. The clutch slave went out, and it took all of 2 minutes to replace actual part, but getting the tranny out and then back in has been a humbling experience.
What's frustrating is that my father has a huge shop with a lift and every tool imaginable, but he 1,700 miles away. |

I was 16 years old and flumbling with my newly installed alarm on my Lincoln Mark VII....
The alarm went off while driving, and some cop heard it. I was followed for a while, until I was surrounded by what seemed like the whole police department. I was "asked" at gunpoint to leave the car and get on the floor... all for playing with a remote! LOL.... |
