I think you have to take what she said in context. I'm sure if he was a nice guy and mentioned he had a vette, she would've been nice about it... but if the guy comes off as an ass with a chip on his shoulders, then he deserved to be put in his place.

I'd respond to ya Juli, but it would end up being way too long (I know b/c I started) and take the fun out of what was suppose to be a funny thread. Warfang hit the nail on the head with his comment. She told me a couple nights ago that a friend of hers drives a Z06. I doubt she has ever called him a redneck who can't afford a Viper. But I doubt he has bragged about the car non-stop like this guy does.

Call me uninformed, immature, or even a Viper kiss-@$$, but the way I see it is the Vette has it's name. People know what a Corvette is. Not everyone is familiar with the Viper. As well, a TRUE and passionate car enthusiast will appreciate everything whether it's a Viper, Vette, Civic, Mazda3 (had to throw that in) or whatnot, as they each have their own characteristics, qualities and above all, appeal. If you want a luxury/comfortable/daily driving sports car, get a Vette. They've got cupholders, automatic shifting (option) and all sorts of computer aids to drive it fast easily and safely. with the Viper, it's more of a toy/racing vehicle/exotic. You have to know how to drive the car and be on top of it at all times, covering your behind as well as the wide @$$ of the car.

One thing I've noticed though, is that if someone has a name or brand on them, they will be rather cocky about it. If you're wearing LaCoste (big in my area), Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren etc, you're going to flaunt it and rub it in. Same with the Vette. "I own a Vette," "my Vette is the greatest car on the market," "my Vette will hand the Viper its backside on a silver platter" and everything else is only said to boost one's ego. Everyone knows a Corvette is a sports car, been around for over 50 years, has its heritage and everything else only adds to its stigma. If someone can own a brand and be cool about it, that's the name of the game and shows you're a true auto enthusiast. Because of it's heritage and name, a lot of Corvette owners do think their car is the kingpin of all cars. This being said however I feel as though most Vette owners are cocky as they can't express themselves as eloquently as some other people but what can you do. I've only spoken with two or three Vette owners that are hip with the automotive scene.

But yes, please practice safe sex to minimize the odds of individuals like these roaming the planet.

My best friend has a vette as well, he's a putz, he's had twenty vettes to date, I've had two.

I found the most important part that a POSER got put into his place by the girl he was trying to impress.

I don't enjoy the guy's embarassement just because he drives a vette.

There's quite a few POSER/"Put down" experts/egotist Viper owners that are complete jerks - just check on the alley. You've gotta love it when one of the Posers get a slammin.

I was just saying that Vette-bashing in general by ANYone is just NOT what this forum is about...it's about VIPERS and CARS...and us people who enjoy them...when a person is RUDE, like this Vette-owner was, of COURSE I agree that THEY should be taken to task, was the Vette rude? LOL....and yes, ALL in good fun most of the time, Chad!!! We have Vette AND Viper...and we simply enjoy ALL cars, as others enjoy theirs...a RUDE person is a TOTALLY different thread...NOT the car itself....that's all I meant.
